F.A.Q’s of the pressure cleaning sector.

Throughout my extensive experience in the domestic and commercial jet/pressure washing sector, I have encountered numerous inquiries regarding various pressure washing tasks. To assist you in finding answers to your own questions, I have compiled a selection of frequently asked questions.

 FAQ’s

  • The average cost for cleaning a driveway is determined by various factors. Assuming the driveway is not located too far away and the job itself is considered average, with a moderate level of dirt and a reasonable amount of weeds to clear, my pricing is based on this average scenario. This price guide would be for pre-treating of weeds, pressure washing, and re-sanding.

Small driveway clean average cost from £200

Medium driveway clean average cost from £300

Large driveway clean average cost from £400

If you wish to have your driveway sealed for additional weather protection, there will be an additional cost on top of the driveway cleaning cost.

  • It is common for certain jet washing services to request a deposit, which is used to cover expenses like weeding treatments or sealants, as these products can be costly. It is recommended to avoid giving cash without careful consideration. If you have agreed to pay a deposit for pressure washing work, it is always best to opt for a bank transfer. This way, you can be certain about the recipient of your payment. If the jet washing service provider insists on cash payments only, it might be a cause for concern.

  • There are several factors to consider when attempting to save money by doing the job yourself, such as the specific method involved in the pressure washing process. This includes selecting the appropriate pressure, wand, tip, pressure washer type, and even cleaning products. Professionals in the pressure washing trade have accumulated a wealth of knowledge, allowing them to achieve optimal results with minimal effort. Therefore, for peace of mind, it may be wise to consider letting the professionals handle the job.

  • In addition to its exceptional cleaning capabilities, using a pressure washer also helps conserve water. Unlike a garden hose that consumes approximately 3,500 liters per hour, a pressure washer only utilizes around 500 liters per hour.

  • It is highly advisable to seal a driveway after pressure washing. By using this method to clean your driveway, you can effectively eliminate all the dirt and debris on its surface, facilitating a stronger bond between the sealer and the driveway.

  • To look after your patio or driveway in best condition I would highly advise having the area treated and cleaned at least once a year. This will help to cut down the growth of algae, dirt and mildew built up an this will help the areas look its best all year round.

  • Pressure washers can cause damage to various surfaces, such as wood, concrete, or siding, due to their high pressure. However, hiring a professional pressure washing service ensures that you can benefit from the powerful cleaning capabilities of a pressure washer without the risk of damaging your home. On the other hand, inexperienced users may inadvertently etch and permanently damage these surfaces.

I would strongly advise using a pressure washing service that you can trust and requesting a test patch to assess the final results and ensure the provider is knowledgeable.

Keep in mind that not all pressure cleaner operators have extensive experience.

  • Block paving driveways and paths can be effectively cleaned using pressure washing, but it is crucial to avoid excessive pressure and using the wrong jet wash nozzle to prevent any potential damage. Fortunately, block paviors are highly durable and resistant to damage, so there is no need to be overly concerned.

  • Closed-toe shoes, ideally wellies boot or steel-toed boots.

    Long sleeve shirts.

    Long trousers.

    Safety glasses or goggles.

    Gloves.

    Mask.
It can turn into a messy job in no time at all. Also be aware your gonna get small bits of debris hitting you in the face so please remember the goggles.
